2024 BMW X1 M35i xDrive is our smallest and most powerful SUV yet

BMW-X1-M35i

Our most compact SUV, the X1, is getting a performance option for 2024. If you’re looking for unmatched power wrapped up in an attractive and neat package, the all-new BMW X1 M35i xDrive is it.

It’s our most powerful crossover with a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine. It uses M TwinPower Turbo technology with 312 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. It’s a noteworthy upgrade—the current base model, which is just two years old, has 241 hp. The BMW X1 M35i xDrive has stamina, going from 0-100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds, and can reach top speeds of 250 km/h. The BMW X1 M35i xDrive has been outfitted with BMW’s adjustable Adaptive M Suspension and the dampers are smoothed out with added valves on the rebound side. This makes for a remarkably smooth ride with quick response while near-actuator wheel slip limitation make the M35i delightfully agile.

Nineteen-inch M light-alloy wheels come standard, as do the all-season non-runflat tires, though there are optional 20-inch M light-alloy wheels on performance non-run flat tires, for those clients who want a pick-me-up.

In addition to the BMW X1 M35i xDrive’s impeccable performance, aesthetic upgrades are also plentiful. The aggressive looking body, with its M kidney grille and vertical double bars, as well as M exterior mirror caps and four exhaust tailpipes, are instantly recognizable.

Inside is a perfect balance of performance and functionality. Nods to the M badge are throughout the interior, including M door sill trim, M pedals, as well as the M-specific design of the BMW Curved Display and the M leather steering wheel with shift paddles.

The optional M Sport Seats make personalizing your driving experience even more refined, offering a range of adjustments that can be made electronically. In the rear, passengers will feel the built-in comforts, with a 40:20:40 split with adjustable tilt angle of each section. Cargo is ample, too, with a capacity that can go from 540 litres up to 1,600 litres when the rear seats are folded down.

The 2024 BMW X1 M35i xDrive’s infotainment system is a first, too. It’ll receive the new BMW iDrive with QuickSelect and BMW Operating System 9.
