A review of the unmistakable BMW Concept XM

In an automotive landscape of electrified performance and futuristic environment, BMW has revealed its exclusive Concept XM hybrid, posed to be the most powerful model in the M brand’s 50-year history.

Set to go into series production in 2022, the Concept XM is the first BMW M GmbH electrified entry into the luxury high performance market with the exceptional performance and intelligent balance of a hybrid drive system. A V8 engine pairs with a high-performance electric motor to produce a maximum output of 750 hp, 737 lb-ft of peak torque and an all-electric range of 80 km, pointing this uncompromising machine into the future.

“The BMW Concept XM represents a complete re-imagining of the high-performance car segment,” Franciscus van Meel, CEO of BMW M GmbH said in a release. “It underlines the ability of BMW M GmbH to break with established conventions and push boundaries in order to offer fans of the brand the ultimate driving experience. The series-production car – the first pure BMW M model since the legendary BMW M1 – also shows how we are approaching the step-by-step electrification of our brand.”

The body of the Concept XM is bold and distinctly futuristic with sculpted surfaces and prominent lines and edges. An illuminated kidney grille and the carved air intakes of the hood give off a menacing front appearance, while the long wheelbase and muscular appearance of the Concept’s side profile are unmistakably rooted in a lineage of BMW DNA.

Utilizing a combination of high-quality materials from leather to velvet and carbon fiber, the cabin of the Concept XM is a driver-focused expression of luxury and comfort. The driver’s seat is geometrically conformed to offer an unparalleled experience behind the wheel, with access to the heightened systems of the BMW Curved Display, BMW M ID 8 and BMW iDrive.

In the rear compartment, the M Lounge is an expressive and unique space that defines the overall showcase of the Concept. An indirectly illuminated three dimensional prism roof acts as a centrepiece to the Lounge, while a leather and velvet sport seat and couch complement the en route experience within the Concept XM.

The BMW Concept XM will go into production later in 2022. For more details on the model’s release, stay tuned to Policaro BMW’s Instagram channel.
