Everything you need to know about the 2025 BMW M5

2025 BMW M5

The 2025 BMW M5 proves you can have your cake and eat it, too. The latest version of M5 is a fuel-conscious plug-in hybrid (PHEV) that delivers wildly fast acceleration and precise handling, much like its combustion engine counterpart. With advancements in battery technology and hybrid systems, BMW drivers are increasingly understanding that PHEVs are viable alternatives to traditional combustion engines.

The M5, first introduced in 1984, has evolved through several generations to become one of the most celebrated high-performance sedans in automotive history. Initially based on the E28 5 Series, the M5 is known for its racing-derived performance capabilities and with the arrival of the 2025 M5, is now greener than ever.

Designed for enthusiasts who crave both speed and comfort, the seventh gen 2025 M5 is redefining performance driving in Canada.

The M Hybrid drive system combines a 4.4-litre V8 engine with an electric motor to deliver a staggering 717 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque. This PHEV powerhouse propels the M5 from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds, achieving a top speed of 305 km/h with the optional M Driver’s Package. This power is paired with an estimated 40 km of electric-only range, offering zero emissions for shorter journeys.

The M5’s V8 engine features M TwinPower Turbo technology, a cross-bank exhaust manifold and advanced cooling systems to ensure optimal performance. The electric motor, integrated into the 8-speed M Steptronic transmission, adds 194 hp and the vehicle’s handling is further enhanced by the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system.

The new M5’s exterior design is both stately, featuring a distinctive front grille and sculpted side skirts. Double-spoke alloy wheels in a Midnight Grey finish that are 20-inch at the front and 21-inch at the rear come standard with 285/40 ZR20 (front) and 295/35 ZR21 (rear) performance tires.

The 2025 BMW M5 is well-suited for Canada’s diverse driving conditions. Its all-wheel-drive system and advanced suspension mean you can expect stability and control on snowy or icy roads, while the hybrid powertrain improves efficiency for urban commutes.
